As I thought, I have not been keeping up with this on a daily basis. So I guess every few days will have to due. Been making beads and some jewlry not much but I have attached a photo of a couple of beads done a few weeks ago. All but one have been sold thankfully. No day job is really making things different, you forget what regular money coming in helps you do. Don't get me wrong I would rather be doing lampwork or traveling, but so far the last two months the lampwork does not pay all the bills. Today I am going to fill in for Kyle at a local restaurant service company, he is going on vacation next week. This fill in will last for just over a week, and hopefully turn into something more permanent at some point. Hope Kyle is going some where exciting will find out later today....

Well the last 3 day's have been really crazy but alot of fun. I have not been making beads but have been doing something called The Greater Atlanta Quilt Shop Hop. I am not a quilt maker but my best friend Sarah from San Antonio is and she flew in just for this event. We started Thrusday and finished Saturday morning, we stopped at 11 Quilt shops in the greater Atlanta area for free samples of materials, patterns, and of course a charm you get to either add to a charm bracelet or you can add it to one of your quilt projects or I think Sarah is going to knit something and add the charms to that. There is one local shop in Decatur that was really cool, they had some great fabrics (batiks are my thing) would be really cool to make small purses or something and then use glass beads as the button and a loop to keep them closed. The stores name is Intown Quilters check out there site. http://www.littlequilts.com/.

Oh and on to my own plug don't forget to look me up on artfire and see what I have for sale, always adding new things. www.artfire.com/users/mariesglassworks

I did not realize how easy it is to be a slacker, as one of my friends says when it comes to keeping up with doing things daily. Yesterday was spent at Sylvie's Studio www.sylviebeads.com you should check out her web site. Sylvie makes these wonderful beads/bead kits that you combine seadbead work and her glass to make wearable art. Today I will most likely take pictures of some of the jewlery that was taken to the Botanical Gardens show and list them on my Art Fire site where they will be for sale. Saving the best news for last I was awarded the Southern Flames Scholarship this year to go to the Gathering in Rodchester NY. The Gathering is a yearly convention that moves around to a different location every year, lampwork artist from all over the world come together for classes, lectures, demonstrations, and just all out FUN.

Well another day, started out at the Dekalb Farmers market in Decatur. That is such a cool place to go, if you have never been, it is high on my list. Just to walk the rows and see all the produce and where it comes from and some of the names like Jack Fruit they look so strange but they really taste good according to Mom who has had some while in Vietnam.
Back to what I should be doing, wich is sending out resume's or making beads it appears that I am not doing either one at the moment, but I am going to go see what beads I have made in the last few days and see if any hit my hot button and think about making a few pieces of jewelry for my site on Artfire. www.artfire.com/users/mariesglassworks. Check it out if you have a chance because I am supposed to be self promoting here, along with saying what ever is on my mind at the moment. By the way the picture I put up is from a trip my mom and I took to Venice a few years ago and I will put up more of our travels bucause that is a passion along with lampworking. We did get to do alot of traveling the last few years our stops include Venice, Borneo, Peru and Turkey. Really cool places to go, all highly recommnded. Enough for now....

Hello out there, today is my first I am a newbe....so we shall se how this goes and see if I can keep up with those folks that are so good at this. Not only an I going to use my blogging for promoting my glass beads and jewelry I make from the beads, but to say what ever is on my mind. Hope that works. I have been without a job for a few weeks now and I am about over it. I have to admit it is really nice just making beads but I am not doing very well at self permotion so I need some help in that department. If anyone reads this if you have any just fell free to chime in at anytime. Yesterday was one of those days that you felt like you worked on the torch for a while no ideas came to mind and when you went to clean what was there today two of the one's you were happy with broke!!! I know it happens but usually they just turn out ugly and you can frost them and then they don't look so bad. Oh well more later.
